Rocky Mountain Red Bear Kawasaki Team Green™ Battles at Wild Boar
PALATKA, Fla. (March 3, 2025) – The Progressive Grand National Cross Country series took a one-eighty this weekend, and not just with the weather and track conditions. From cold and muddy in South Carolina to sunny and dry in the sand of Florida, the weekend looked promising for Rocky Mountain Red Bear Kawasaki Team Green™.
XC1 rider Steward Baylor started just inside the Top 10 and worked his way into the Top 5 before a big crash slowed him down. "I was comfortable with the pace, then unfortunately had a fall that damaged my bike. I gave it all I had but could only do so much with the situation. I was lucky to be able to finish." Baylor salvaged some points with a 10th in the XC1 class.
XC2 rider Nick DeFeo, who finished first overall at Round 1, also had a less-than-ideal ride. DeFeo lost time on the leaders after having to pull into the pits on lap one and make a repair to the bike. He had great lap times afterwards to climb back to fifth in his class. "Not a great day but it could be worse. I am still ok in points and am looking forward to next weekend," said DeFeo.
XC2 rider Josh Toth had a solid day, starting the three-hour race in seventh and working his way up to fourth by the end. "It was a gnarly track today. I felt good at the beginning. I had one mishap where I hit my chest on the bars and that slowed me down a bit, but I feel ok now. I'll be ready to rebound at Talladega," said Toth.
WXC rider Rachael Archer had an up-and-down day. It started great with a holeshot and leading most of the first lap. A few mistakes cost her a podium in the end. "Just one of those days. I almost passed for third at the finish but came up just short. I'll keep working and be better at the next one," said Archer.
Rocky Mountain Red Bear Kawasaki Team Green™ continues their season next weekend in Talladega, Alabama.
