Kawasaki Takes Manufacturers’ Title After Two More Race Wins in World SSP300
Inigo Iglesias Bravo (Füsport - RT Motorsports by SKM Kawasaki) and Mirko Gennai (MTM Kawasaki) both claimed wins at the second-to-last round of the 2024 WorldSSP300 Championship, securing Kawasaki the 2024 Manufacturers’ Championship with one race to go. The event, held at Motorland Aragon in Spain, saw occasional high winds but mostly sunny autumn weather.
Loris Veneman took pole for Race 1, recovering from an earlier crash. The race was a close-fought battle, with Iglesias Bravo leading three times and taking his third win of the season. Veneman rounded out the podium, while Carter Thompson finished a strong sixth after briefly leading on the penultimate lap.
Race 2 was shortened to seven laps after a red flag, and Gennai emerged victorious. Gennai’s win gave Kawasaki its sixth Manufacturers’ Championship, and he now ranks second in WorldSSP300 wins with seven career victories. Jose Manuel Osuna Saez secured his first podium of the season in third place.
Veneman finished fifth in Race 2, keeping him second in the Riders’ Championship with one round remaining. Thompson battled hard but finished 10th. Iglesias Bravo struggled after serving two long lap penalties, finishing 18th.
As the season heads to the finale at Jerez, Iglesias Bravo, Veneman, and Gennai are all still in the title hunt. Kawasaki has already clinched the Manufacturers’ Championship, and MTM Kawasaki leads the Teams’ Championship. The final race will take place from October 18-20 at Circuito de Jerez.
