A Podium and Moto Win for Febvre in Shanghai
Due to the approaching Typhoon Bebinca, the GP, originally planned for Sunday and Monday as part of the Mid-Autumn Festival Holiday weekend, was shortened to a one-day event. Grid positions were determined during a Timed Practice session instead of a Qualifying race, and the GP motos were run on a tight schedule with only one hour between motos in each class. A brief rain shower as riders lined up for the first moto did not impact the track conditions, which were perfect for racing.
Febvre quickly advanced from a fifth-place start in the first moto. After a series of decisive passes, he took the lead with a smooth move on lap eleven and built a commanding lead, finishing nearly six seconds ahead. In the second moto, Febvre moved into fourth place on the opening lap but faced a frustrating battle for eight laps as the rider ahead of him defended aggressively. Once he got past for third, he was already fifteen seconds behind the leaders and couldn’t close the gap. Despite this, his third-place finish earned him his eighth podium of the season and second overall for the day, securing his fifth place in the series standings as he heads to the final round in Spain in two weeks.
Seewer started the first moto strongly, taking his KX450-SR to his sixth holeshot of the season. Although he lost the lead on the opening lap, he maintained a top-three position for five laps until Febvre passed him. Seewer was pushing hard to follow his teammate back up the leaderboard when a minor issue set him back to an eventual tenth place. In the second moto, Seewer had another great start from mid-gate, rounding turn one in the top-four. However, a rider ahead of him lost control and fell, taking Seewer down with him. After sustaining a heavy knock to his right shoulder, Seewer sought off-track safety and was unable to rejoin the race. Despite the setbacks, he retains fourth in the series standings, thirty-three points clear of teammate Febvre.
